Punto Banco Principles

Baccarat chemin de fer is bet on with 8 decks in a shoe. Cards below 10 are valued at face value and with 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is 1. Bets are made on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they simply represent the 2 hands to be dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards are then given to the ‘house’ and ‘gambler’. The total for each hand is the sum total of the cards, but the beginning digit is dumped. e.g., a hand of five and 6 has a score of one (five plus 6 equals eleven; drop the first ‘one’).

A 3rd card could be given based on the following rules:

- If the player or bank achieves a score of eight or nine, the two players stay.

- If the gambler has five or less, he takes a card. Players otherwise stand.

- If the player stands, the bank hits on 5 or less. If the player hits, a guide is used to see if the house holds or takes a card.

Baccarat Chemin de Fer Odds

The greater of the 2 hands wins. Winning wagers on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even payout minus a 5% rake. The Rake is recorded and cleared out once you depart the table so make sure you have funds left before you head out). Winning bets on the gambler pays out at one to one. Winning bets for a tie typically pay 8:1 but on occasion nine to one. (This is a awful bet as ties occur less than 1 in every 10 hands. Be wary of putting money on a tie. Although odds are astonishingly better for 9:1 vs. 8 to 1)

Gambled on correctly baccarat offers relatively good odds, apart from the tie bet of course.

Punto Banco Method

As with all games baccarat chemin de fer has a handful of familiar myths. One of which is the same as a myth in roulette. The past isn’t a harbinger of future actions. Tracking past results at a table is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that gave its life for our stationary desires.

The most established and likely the most successful plan is the one-three-two-six method. This technique is deployed to maximize winnings and minimizing risk.

Start by wagering one unit. If you win, add another to the two on the table for a sum of 3 dollars on the second bet. If you succeed you will have 6 on the table, take away four so you are left with 2 on the third wager. Should you succeed on the third wager, deposit two to the four on the table for a grand total of 6 on the fourth round.

Should you do not win on the initial round, you take a hit of one. A win on the first round followed by a hit on the 2nd creates a loss of two. Wins on the first two with a defeat on the third provides you with a take of two. And wins on the first three with a hit on the 4th means you balance the books. Winning at all four bets leaves you with 12, a take of 10. This means you can give up the 2nd round five times for each favorable streak of four wagers and still are even.
