Punto Banco Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks in a shoe. Cards under ten are counted at face value and with Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and Ace is one. Wagers are made on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not actual people; they just represent the 2 hands that are dealt).

Two cards are given to both the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for each hand is the sum total of the cards, although the first number is discarded. For instance, a hand of five and six has a value of one (5 plus 6 = 11; ditch the 1st ‘one’).

A 3rd card could be dealt using the following rules:

- If the player or house gets a total of 8 or nine, both players stand.

- If the player has five or less, he takes a card. Players holds otherwise.

- If the player holds, the bank hits on 5 or lower. If the gambler hits, a guide is used to determine if the house stands or takes a card.

Baccarat Odds

The higher of the 2 totals wins. Winning wagers on the house pay out 19 to 20 (even payout minus a 5% commission. The Rake is tracked and paid off when you depart the game so make sure you have money remaining before you head out). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for a tie normally pays 8:1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a bad bet as ties occur less than one in every 10 hands. Avoid gambling on a tie. Although odds are astonishingly greater for 9 to 1 vs. 8:1)

Gambled on correctly baccarat provides generally decent odds, aside from the tie bet of course.

Punto Banco Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has a handful of familiar misconceptions. One of which is the same as a false impression in roulette. The past isn’t a fore-teller of events yet to happen. Keeping score of previous results on a chart is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that surrendered its life for our stationary needs.

The most familiar and probably the most successful scheme is the one-three-two-six plan. This plan is deployed to maximize winnings and limit risk.

Start by placing 1 unit. If you succeed, add one more to the two on the game table for a sum total of 3 chips on the second bet. Should you win you will now have 6 on the game table, take away four so you keep two on the third wager. Should you come away with a win on the 3rd bet, deposit 2 on the 4 on the game table for a total of six on the 4th round.

Should you do not win on the first round, you take a loss of one. A win on the initial wager followed by a hit on the second brings about a loss of two. Success on the initial two with a hit on the third gives you with a profit of 2. And wins on the initial three with a hit on the 4th means you balance the books. Succeeding at all 4 wagers gives you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you can squander the second wager five times for every successful run of four wagers and in the end, balance the books.
